Entrepreneurship evening at Technoport
Technoport was pleased to welcome Jean-Marc Bouyerie, CEO and Founder of JWay, to its April entrepreneurship evening.
The goal was to let Jean-Marc share his entrepreneurial experience on a recent decision he took at the level of his main product – J-Publisher that aims at building cheap, scalable and agile online services.
In 2007 Jean-Marc decided to shift to a free licensing model for J-Publisher. This decision was based on an internal sales strategy shift and the returns where immediate with a reduced sales effort and cycle; a greater involvement of clients in the improvement of the product and almost no discussions on support costs. Jean-Marc however also pointed to the audience some elements that have to be well managed when taking such a shift. The most important in his eyes seems to be the definition of a clear model with clear rules. This is mainly important when it comes to deal with external integrators.
The evening ended up with an interesting discussion between the audience members and the detection of a business collaboration opportunity between two companies. These events are also made for that!
