Project description

In order to achieve this objective, DETECT-it 2 will build on the results of the DETECT-it 1 project, in which a network of 30 BICs across Europe was mobilized.

Detect-it 2 aims to address some of the major challenges which were faced in DETECT-it 1 by introducing a new bottom-up approach based on work with existing regional clusters. This approach was designed to be fully operational and ready for implementation for the first calls of FP7.
The project specifically targets innovative SMEs but also has a significant impact on the following audience: BICs and SME support organizations, large corporate players, regional RTD players and regional economic policy makers.

Objectives
Preparing BICs and their SME client base for FP7. Detect-it 2 will also ensure continuity for the client base of Detect-it1 after the end of this project.

FP7

FP7 is the shortcut name for the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development. This is the EU's main instrument for funding research in Europe and it will run from 2007 to 2013.
FP7 is also designed to answer to Europe's employment needs, boost competitiveness and quality of life.

Technoport missions
The objective of Detect-it2 fits with the strategic and operational objectives of the CRP Henri Tudor, which has adopted a strategy of strong collaboration with the industrial sector and companies, promoted by experiences in the management of clusters, participation in and management of FP5 and FP6 projects.

The expected result of the project is the involvement of more and more innovative SMEs in regional, national and European research projects. Strategic and practical objectives for BICs are as follows:
  • BICs will acquire new knowledge concerning FP7
  • BICs will co-operate with Regional Clusters/National Contact Points/Regional RTD support partners to raise SME awareness and interest
  • BICs will actively participate to the bottom-up development of proposals.
